The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Surgeon Major of Second Class Paul A. J. Petit, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. Attached to the Medical Section of the Central Bureau of Franco-American Relations and later at G-4, General headquarters, American Expeditionary Forces, Surgeon Major of Second Class Petit gave whole-hearted assistance and cooperation at all times. His advice and distinguished ability materially aided us in the prompt evacuation and hospitalization of casualties.
