The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Paymaster General of the 1st Class Augustin A. Marty, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. In charge of the French Military Postal Service, Paymaster General Marty gave us assistance of inestimable value in the planning and organization of our own military postal system. At all times he cooperated with us most whole-heartedly, giving us sound advice and proving at all times most helpful and tactful. The services which he rendered to the American Expeditionary Forces were of great worth to us.
