The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Medical Inspector Alexandre B. Lasnet, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Chief Surgeon of the 6th French Army, Medical Inspector Lasnet placed all the facilities of his complete organization at the disposal of the American Expeditionary Forces for instruction purposes of our inexperienced medical personnel. In February 1918, when the 26th Division became a part of the 6th French Army, he made the most complete and detailed arrangements for the care of our sick and wounded and assisted in every possible way in making their instruction period a success. During the Chateau-Thierry offensive, when several divisions of the American Expeditionary Forces were in the 6th French Army, he rendered significant aid to the American units. Later, when he became Chief Surgeon of the group of armies of the Center, he again manifested the same whole-hearted spirit of cooperation and helpfulness. No demands were ever too great to receive his consideration and no effort was left unmade by him to assist in meeting the many emergencies which confronted the medical department in the trying periods of 1918. His services were of great consequence to the American Expeditionary Forces.
