The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Captain of Infantry Maurice Klotz, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Liaison Officer with the 1st American Depot Division and the 77th American Division, Captain Klotz rendered services of exceptional value to the American Expeditionary Forces. He acted with tact and energy in handling all questions between the American military authorities, with whom he served, and the French authorities, immeasurably facilitating our work. In the field, he assured the efficient liaison with the French units operating on the flanks of the 77th American Division, rendering services of inestimable worth.
