The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel Edward C. Jury, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Principal Assistant to the Chief of the British Mission attached to the American General Headquarters of the period, January 1918 to March 1919, by his brilliant military ability and his earnest spirit of whole-hearted cooperation with the personnel of our Fourth and Fifth Sections of the General Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Jury gave much valuable assistance to these sections during the period of their organization and development, rendering services of inestimable value to the American Expeditionary Forces.
