The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Robert Jones, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. An eminent orthopedic surgeon and Chief of the Division of Orthopedic Surgery in the British Army, General Jones placed at the disposal of the Medical Service of the American Expeditionary Forces his eminent talents and broad experience in standardizing methods of treatment for the sick and wounded and took an active personal interest in class instruction of American medical officers in this very important branch of surgery.
