The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to General Major Leon M. Greindl, Belgian Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Chief of a staff section at Belgian General Headquarters, General Major Greindl rendered invaluable service in the direction of the most important engineering operations. Confronted by stupendous tasks he performed all with distinction, showing exact scientific knowledge and great zeal in the performance of his arduous duties.
