The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major of Infantry Adolphe F. M. Gauthier, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Head of the section of the G-2, with an American Division, Major Gauthier displayed untiring zeal, energy, and devotion to his exacting duties. By his spirit of whole-hearted cooperation with our personnel in solving the many and complex problems with which we were confronted he proved himself a most efficient officer and valuable friend.
