The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Medical Inspector General Charles Fevrier, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I, for services as Chief Medical Officer of the Military Government of Paris. During the period of the great offensives of Chateau-Thierry, Soissons, and the Meuse-Argonne, when the American sick and wounded were arriving in great numbers from the battle front and our hospital resources and accommodations were exhausted, he placed at the disposal of the American Medical Service the entire available space in the French military hospitals of Paris. During the development of the American hospital facilities, General Fevrier greatly assisted the American Medical Service in the location and obtaining of suitable buildings for hospitals. He has rendered service of great merit to the United States.
