The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major of Artillery Clement Durette, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I, for services as Head of the French Field Artillery Mission at the School of Fire for Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from September 1917 to May 1918. Major Durette’s knowledge of field artillery, tireless effort, unfailing tact, and loyal cooperation were largely responsible for the great value of the services of this mission to that school and to the Field Artillery.
