The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel Giovanni Devalle, Italian Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. Colonel Devalle served with distinction as Chief of T.A.E.A. of the Italian Army, contributing materially to the success of the common cause. At all times manifesting a cordial spirit of cooperation, he did much toward promoting the harmonious relations existing between the Italian Army and the American forces serving in Italy.
