The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Charles P. Deedes, Royal British Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Deputy Director of Staff Duties of the British Army, by his tact, marked ability, and spirit of whole-hearted cooperation with American officers on duty with the British Army Staff, ably assisting them in every endeavor, General Deedes rendered services of great value to the American Expeditionary Forces.
