The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Captain of Air Service Jacques E. De L’Estrade, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. During his connection with our Air Service Headquarters in Paris, Captain De L’Estrade was of the greatest assistance in solving many problems relating to supply through his wide practical experience and intimate knowledge of French factory and industrial methods, particularly in connection with the repair of airplanes and the procurement of spare parts. Ever displaying a desire to further the interests of the Air Service of our Army in every possible way, he rendered services of high character to the American Expeditionary Forces.
