The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Maurice de Barescut, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As Aide Major General for Operations at French General Headquarters, General de Barescut gave us information and advice of the greatest importance. At all times he extended whole-hearted cooperation to the American military authorities. He showed himself a tireless worker, brilliant tactician, and loyal friend.
