The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Georges V. Dantant, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. After Long and honorable service in active operations against the enemy, General Dantant took Command of the 13th Region, in which were subsequently located a large variety of American military activities. The unbroken harmony which characterized the relations between the French and American authorities was due in no small degree to his tact and breadth of vision, and by his constant desire to further our interests in every possible manner he rendered services of inestimable value to the American Expeditionary Forces.
