The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Albert G. L. D’Amade, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As General Commanding the 10th Region, General D’Amade has displayed the same brilliant military attainments and loyal devotion to the common cause which characterized his service with combat troops at the front. By his spirit of whole-hearted cooperating and earnest desire to furnish every facility to the American troops in his region, he has rendered services of utmost value to the American Expeditionary Forces.
