The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Louis Comby, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. In Command of the 12th French Region, General Comby showed unceasing devotion to the welfare and comfort of the American troops entering that territory, at all times affording the American military authorities loyal cooperation. He exercised extraordinary personal interest in Franco-American relations and rendered invaluable service to the American Expeditionary Forces.
