The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel of Engineers Maurice D. Cochet, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. In his capacity as a Member of the French Mission attached to the American General Headquarters from June 1917 to April 1918, Lieutenant Colonel Cochet gave us much assistance in all matters of organization of units, and especially those affecting the organization of artillery. By his good judgment and willing spirit of cooperation, coupled with his high military attainments, he rendered services of particular worth to the American Expeditionary Forces.
