The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brevet Major of Infantry Henri Bouvard, French Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States, during World War I. As an Aide to Marshal Petain, Major Bouvard served with distinction in a position of great responsibility. He displayed military attainments of a high order, and was constant in his devotion to the best interests of the allied cause. In the midst of his exacting duties, he found time to render very valuable service to the American Expeditionary Forces, being ever ready to assist us by his sound judgment and wide knowledge of constantly changing conditions.
