The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Infantry) Milton A. Reckord, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. Colonel Reckord served with distinction as Commanding Officer of the 115th Infantry, 29th Division, at all times showing qualities of high military leadership and great tactical ability. Inspiring his men by his aggressive spirit and fervent devotion to his task, he led them with noted success through three weeks of constant action against the enemy during the operations north of Verdun.
