The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Major (Field Artillery) Vincent Meyers, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As a member of the Supply Section of the General Staff in charge of the Munitions Branch, Major Meyers ably controlled and handled the details of ammunition supply for the 1st Army during the period of the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne operations. In this important task he displayed marked initiative and energy, and assured by his skill and prompt action a steady supply of ammunition under most difficult conditions. His efforts were a contributing factor to the success of the Supply Service during these important operations.
