The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel (Quartermaster Corps) Richard Henry Jordan, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Senior Assistant and Executive Assistant to the Chief of Transportation Service from 11 January 1918 to 15 April 1919, with untiring energy, rare administrative and executive ability, and unremitting devotion to duty, Colonel Jordan rendered service of great value to the Government in perfecting the necessary organization of the movement of troops from encampments throughout the United states to Ports of Embarkation and thence overseas.
