The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Medical Corps) Lucius L. Hopwood, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. In the Hospitalization Division of the Chief Surgeon’s Office, a position of great responsibility, Lieutenant Colonel Hopwood had charge of the equipment and installation of hospitals throughout the Services of Supply in France, and it was due to his ability and energy that these units were so efficiently provided and maintained. He has rendered services of value to the United States.
