The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Lieutenant Colonel (Judge Advocate General’s Department) Arthur D. Hill, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Assistant Judge Advocate, Services of Supply, and Assistant Chief Finance Officer, American Expeditionary Forces, positions of great responsibility, Lieutenant Colonel Hill demonstrated marked ability in performing the various tasks assigned to him. He performed important services for the rents, requisitions, and claims service and rendered valuable assistance in dealings with the representatives of the French Government in all matters of claims in France.
