The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to First Lieutenant Reba G. Cameron, United States Army Nurse Corps, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. As Chief Nurse of the General Hospital at Plattsburgh Barracks, New York, and later as Chief Nurse of the General Hospital at Hampton, Virginia, during the demobilization period, First Lieutenant Cameron’s services were such as to call for special commendation. Whether by day or night, in emergency or routine work, she never failed to respond efficiently to every call. By her conscientious, unselfish devotion to duty, and cheerful cooperative manner she was an example and an inspiration to her entire staff, and was in large measure responsible for the marked success of these special hospitals.
