The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Christopher A. Molino, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving as a Ground Force Joint Task Force Commander with the 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, during combat actions in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, in action on 4 September 2005 in Iraq. On that date, Captain Molino led his ground force during a very intense battle in Tal Afar, Iraq. His sound decisions and decisive actions, while receiving direct small arms and hand grenade fire from enemy forces, contributed to the overall success of the Joint Task Force. Captain Molino’s personal courage, tactical expertise, and professional competence contributed directly to saving the lives of several wounded Rangers. His outstanding leadership, dedication to duty, and commitment to excellence were fundamental to mission success. Captain Molino’s distinctive accomplishments are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Joint Task Force, and the United States Army.
