The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Distinguished Service Medal to Captain C. P. Nelson, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious service in a duty of great responsibility as Commander of Sub Chaser Detachment TWO, operating in the Adriatic, with base at Corfu, Greece, and as Commander of the sub chaser force which attacked Durazzo on 2 October 1918.
