The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain Jean R. Tribot-Laspierre, Army of France, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Rifle Regiment, 1st Algerian Tirailleurs, Army of France, near Bois-de-Belleau, France, 6 June 1918. Although suffering severely from shell shock and the effects of gas, Captain Tribot-Laspierre made his way from the 6th Regiment to the 5th Regiment, U.S. Marine Corps, through very heavy and effective fire, with information of great importance.
