The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross, in lieu of a previously issued Certificate of Merit and Distinguished Service Medal, to Corporal Samuel Treadway, United States Army, for gallant and meritorious conduct while serving as a member of Company G, 22d Infantry Regiment, in the attack on a Moro Cottain in Mindanao, Philippine Islands, known as Linak, 9 April 1904, rendering valuable service after being severely wounded.
