The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Infantry) Alexander Higbee Davidson, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with 36th Infantry, U.S. Volunteers, in an engagement with hostile Filipino insurgents near Porac, Province of Pampanga, Island of Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 17 October 1899.
