Wickliffe (ASN: 2214773), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. While serving as a Runner with Company A, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, after being severely wounded, Private Wickliffe remained on his post near Grand Ballois Farm on the night of 14 – 15 July 1918, near Les Evaux. Wickliffe (ASN: 2214773), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 4th Infantry Regiment, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Grand Ballois Farm, France, July 14 – 15, 1918. After being severely wounded Private Wickliffe remained at his post performing his duties as a relay runner until relieved.
