The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Jesse Frank Weaver (ASN: 1307339), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company C, 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Geneve, France, 8 October 1918. At the starting of the attack Private Weaver was painfully wounded by machine-gun fire. Disregarding his wound, he continued on, and when the company was held up by the extreme fire he voluntarily flanked the enemy position and enabled his comrades to capture the gun. He was evacuated when the objective was reached.
