The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Glenn Vaught (ASN: 1446055), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 129th Machine-Gun Battalion, 35th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Varennes, France, 26 September 1918. Accompanied by another soldier, Corporal Vaught went through heavy fire and by skillful maneuvering located and captured an enemy 77-mm. gun, with part of its crew, which had been checking the advance of our troops.
