The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Private First Class Anthony J. Narewski, United States Army, for heroic achievement while serving with the Medical Department, 35th Engineer Combat Battalion, in connection with military operations against the enemy on 25 March 1945, in Germany. During the crossing of the Rhine River in the vicinity of Rhens,, Germany, Private First Class Narewski displayed fearless courage in the performance of his duties as an Aidman. With utter disregard for his own safety, he exposed himself to intense enemy small arms, machine gun, and mortar fire, to go to the aid of a seriously wounded infantryman on the beach. He remained in an exposed position while giving immediate first aid and then assisted in evacuating the wounded man. The unselfish devotion to duty displayed by Private First Class Narewski reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
