The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Major Clyde W. Gress, United States Air Force, for meritorious service as Chief, Master Planning Branch and Assistant Deputy Air Force Regional Civil Engineer for Engineering with the Air Force Regional Civil Engineer in the Republic of Vietnam while engaged in operations against an opposing armed force from 8 November 1967 to 19 May 1968. During this period Major Gress did an outstanding job in completing the master plans for base development for all Air Force installations in the Republic of Vietnam. Through his successful application of engineering knowledge, sound judgment, and leadership, Major Gress has contributed materially to the accomplishment of the Air Force Regional Civil Engineer Republic of Vietnam. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Major Gress in these responsible positions reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
