(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Master Sergeant Leah Schmidt, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 23 August 2021 during the evacuation of Afghanistan. Master Sergeant assisted in a medical emergency during the evacuating, delivering a baby when a woman went into labor in flight. Her professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty under all conditions serve as an inspiration to her fellow flyers. Master Sergeant Schmidt’s actions reflect the highest credit upon herself and the United States Air Force.
