The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” (Posthumously) to Major Allen Louis Johnson, United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a B-52 Stratofortress Electronic Warfare Officer assigned to the 441st Bomber Squadron, 72nd Strategic Wing, Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, near Hanoi, North Vietnam, on 28 December 1972. On that date, Major Johnson participated in the history-making raids over North Vietnam and was instrumental in delivering his ordnance on the selected military targets. His courageous leadership through extensive surface-to-air missile attacks on his aircraft to the very heart of the opposing nation’s stronghold contributed to the furtherance of national objectives. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Johnson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
