    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Sergeant [then Private First Class[ Joseph F. Huber (ASN: 33830104), United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States while serving with the Medical Detachment, 37th Infantry Division, in the Philippine Islands. Technician Fifth Grade Gino J. Banducci and Sergeant Joseph F. Huber, at great risk to their lives, saved a comrade from drowning in the Cagayan River on 5 August 1945. The great courage of these men under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions exemplified the finest traditions of the Military Service.
