Goldstein, United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as an Artillery Forward Observer with the 230th Field Artillery Battalion, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Belgium in 1944 and 1945. Sergeant Goldstein remained at his observation post under concentrated enemy fire and directed return fire that destroyed two German tanks, an artillery field piece, and an enemy command post and an observation point. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Sergeant Goldstein, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
