(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Emmett W. Carver (ASN: 33211929), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 120th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in France, on 7 August 1944. When a member of his unit was wounded, Private First Class Carver fearlessly crawled forward under the heavy fire. As he prepared to drag the man to safety, a burst of fire killed Private First Class Carver instantly. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Private First Class Carver, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
