The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Edgar Charles Shoults (ASN: 2183705), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company B, 354th Infantry Regiment, 89th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, near Remonville, France, 1 November 1918. In command of a combat group, Corporal Shoults led his men in a bayonet charge on an enemy stronghold, capturing many machine-guns and killing or capturing the entire crews of the guns.
