(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Field Artillery) Charles J. Genster, United States Army, for gallantry in action in North Africa, in 1943, when in a furious engagement, the camouflage net of one of his guns was set ablaze. Under concentrated enemy fire, Captain Genster removed the burning net, regrouped the gun crew, held his vital position, and pesonally assisted in caring for the wounded. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Genster, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
