(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Airman Second Class Billy J. Avery (AFSN: AF-25768213), United States Air Force, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States on 12 October 1960. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Airman Second Class Avery, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
