First Lieutenant Dodson distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Commanding Officer of the 591st Engineer Company, and later with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, in action against the enemy from 1969 to 1971. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Dodson, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
