Captain Connor distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Commanding Officer of an Infantry Company of the 4th Battalion, 23d Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in January 1968. Armed only with a single hand grenade, Captain Connor charged an enemy bunker in the Hobo Woods operation in South Vietnam, silencing hostile fire which had pinned down his company. He then reorganized his company and evacuated wounded personnel to secure a landing zone. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Connor, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

Captain Connor distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Commanding Officer of an Infantry Company of the 4th Battalion, 23d Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in January 1968. Captain Connor continuously exposed himself to heavy enemy automatic weapons fire and to a rocket barrage and imposed order in a chaotic situation, controlling his company by radio, visual signals, and voice communications. He organized relief positions and was in charge of evacuation of the wounded during an attack on the enemy in the Hobo Woods, in South Vietnam. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Connor, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
