Captain Scheewe distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving with the 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in 1966 and 1967. During a search and destroy mission near Thang Duc, Vietnam, Captain Scheewe, despite being wounded four times, led his men to safety. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Scheewe, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
