The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private Regnoll Chester Scott (ASN: 3134334), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company L, 305th Infantry Regiment, 77th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in the Argonne Forest, France, 3 October 1918. Although himself severely wounded, Private Scott assisted in caring for wounded comrades, refusing aid until all others had received treatment. In the performance of his duties he carried a message through an area which was under heavy machine-gun fire and constant hand-grenade bombing.
