(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Field Artillery) John Jacob Koehler, Jr. (ASN: 0-62756), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 49th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea, in 1950 and 1951. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Koehler, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
