During night operations, Second Lieutenant Inman and his patrol were cut off by the enemy. On the third attempt to breach through superior enemy forces, he provided protective fire for his men until he was mortally wounded by an enemy grenade. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Inman, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
