(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Orville L. Scott (AFSN: AO-812495), United States Air Force, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of an unarmed T-6 Mosquito Reconnaissance aircraft of the FAR EAST Air Forces, in aerial operations in an attempt to rescue a flier downed behind enemy lines in Korea, in 1953. Captain Scott attempted to rescue a downed pilot behind enemy lines in Korea. He stayed near the crash despite heavy antiaircraft fire, led a helicopter to the scene, and deliberately exposed himself to enemy fire while the helicopter attempted to rescue the downed airman. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Captain Scott, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
